On Dec. 1, we invite everyone to participate in the Annual Constitution
Day Symposium, 5-6:15 PM, in the Auditorium. This year’s Symposium
explores the troubling trend of increased income inequality in the U.S.
and its impact on democracy. We will focus specifically on the recent upsurge
in "living wage" campaigns designed to increase income for low
wage workers. What are the benefits and drawbacks of such a strategy to
address income inequality and low levels of democratic participation?
Speakers will include Maine House Representative Mike Shaw and Maine ALF-CIO representative Sara Bigney.
